Carbolite Awnings are designed as a complete leak proof roofing system. This is how it's done:

Rubber seals are made from high quality EPDM. Standard colour is black. The rubber seal is used for both the H Section and the end U Capping. They need slight moisture when installing to allow the rubber to slip onto the sheets.
The aluminium section or "H Bar" measures 50mm wide and 16mm high. The section is extruded from local Australian companies. It is specially designed with single grooves on the top of the section. All screws are placed into the groove. This, when penetrated through the section never touches the sheet yet allows a gap large enough for the sheet to expand and contract. This is known as the rabbet depth. The bar is made from a soft alloy which can be bent and curved.
The sheets are open fluted and need to be covered. We use two types of tapes to achieve this. The first is a butyl tape ( tar tape) which is only used on the gravity end(i.e the end the water runs to). This has a protective silver tape on top of the sticky tar to prevent it sticking to each other. At the other end, an aluminium silver tape covers the top end to prevent dust penetrating.
The U Channel simply caps off the end of the open sheet. It is pop riveted onto the H Bar.
All aluminium extrusions are available in Pearl White, Bronze, Primrose and Satin Black. Special colours available on request.
Carbolite comes in 8mm and 10mm thicknesses
